Hilary 1987, szeptember 28-án született Texasban. Hat éves korában egy balett turné alatt határozta el, hogy színésznő lesz. Tíz évesen rengeteg munka után megkapta első filmszereplését az Amazonok a vadnyugaton című filmben. Álma elég hamar valóra vált, mert a siker nagyon gyorsan jött neki. Az 1998-as Casper és Wendy találkozása (Casper meets Wendy) után, szerepet kapott a The soul collector-ban, és megkapta A Young Artist Award (fiatal színészek díjátadója) Supporting Young Actress (fiatal mellékszereplő) díját. A nagy fordulat az volt amikor szerepelt a Disney Channel  új showjában ahol Lizzie McGuire szerepet kapta. A film a Disney Channel egyik legnézetteb TV műsora lett és 2003-ban megjelent egy nagysikerű film is belőle. A filmnek köszönhetően Hilary lehetőséget kapott egy másik hobbija űzéséhez az énekléshez.A Lizzie McGuire CD-jén Hilary is közreműködött egy számban az I can't wait-ben ami sláger lett. A karácsonyi Santa Claus Lane album után befejezte debütáló albumának- a Metamorphosisnak a stúdiómunkálatait.A Metamorphosis című száma 2. lett a Billboard ranglistán.Ez az album megmutatta Hil tehetségét a zene felé.Turnézott az USA-ban, Európában, Japánban valamint Ausztráliában is. Nem sokkal később szerepelt az MTV TRL showjában. Zenei sikerei ellenére nem hagyta abba a színészkedést. 2003-ban szerepelt a Csaó, Lizzie-ben (The Lizzie McGuire Movie) és az ÖcsiKÉM-ben (Agent cody banks). Valószín?leg a Tucatjával olcsóbb (Cheaper by the dozen ) és a Los Angeles-i tündérmese (A cinderella story) megjelenése után szünetet tartott.18 évesen már több, mint 15 filmben szerepelt. A színészi pálya mellett énekel is. Első CD-jének címe: Wake Up, míg a másodiknak Most Wanted lett a neve. A Harward egyetem levelező tagozatát végzi. A lány egy kutyadivat márkát is piacra dobott Little Dog, s Dog Stuff néven, melynek darabjait tervezi.
